Utopia...

No, not the guesthouse in southern Cambodia. Nor the bar in Hue. Not even the bookshop in the middle of Vientienne. This place is the real deal. Or close to it anyway after seeing the rest of South East Asia.

Good old Thailand! Where a smile is more important that a buck and advice is readily and sincerely given.

Jeremy and I had entered at the northern Huay Xai border, across from Laos. But this time with the aim of experiencing a new Thailand. The first time we came we were virgin tourists. Lost in a new world and pretty daunted by our imaginings of all the things that could, and as we subconciously assumed would, go wrong.

Now with 3 months of travel under our belts we were pros. Old school ho's. We could take whatever was thrown at us and dish it back twice as hard. Or so we think (o:

So we jumped on a local bus - no more of this VIP bus tourist travel for us - and headed off to Chiang rai. And the first person we asked about buses to Chiang rai told us to not book with him but to go to the market instead and book a bus from inside as it was both cheaper and faster.

Oh yes. Back in Thailand where the people once again always smile and actually try and help you without wanting a monetary gain at the end of it all. I love this country! And Pat Thai lives here too (o:
