Bangkok

We awoke this morning to a beautiful day and it lasted. Not a drop till late that night although maybe that would have been a nice reprieve from this sickly heat. Still not as bad as I had expected but it is still making me sweat in places I'd never even thought possible! It doesn't seem to cool down at night either, so what you get is the same temperature minus the direct sunlight.

First breakfast was at the hostel; eggs, sausage, toast, bacon and coffee. Not very Thai but we ate there as we wanted to talk with the other guys staying at the hostel. Then we planned the day.

At the hostel there's a programme called "Volunteer friends" or something. They organise for a Thai person your age to take you around Bangkok free of charge and in exchange for their advice and guidance you must share your culture with them. Amazing idea and we took full advantage of it!

We got this gorgeous little Thai girl Amp who showed us around, taught us some Thai, put up with our terrrible attempts at pronunciation and pretty much stopped people making a fool of us. And this place is huge! People everywhere and the city is ginormous! Her help was invaluable.

This trip is going to be a culture shock and a half.
